New Solo EP Far Beneath the Sun Available Everywhere 1/5/24

My new EP Far Beneath the Sun is available everywhere 1/5/24 and I hope you enjoy! This is a very special one to me and it was mixed and mastered by my good friend James Mehrkens + features him on synth in each song. The cover art was created by the amazing Joe Ruff.

This EP is titled after the first song, Far Beneath the Sun, which was written in the summer of 2011 before I went to college. It was one of the first songs I wrote that I was truly proud of, and it felt like a stepping stone to developing more confidence as a songwriter. I recorded the original-original version back then with James Mehrkens, a recording that’s fun for me to listen to out of nostalgia- but that one surely lives very cozy in its vault, and there it will continue to rest in peace.

The next version of the song was created two years later and released as a Cook Thugless song (a band I co-founded pre-Cold Weather Company) called Far Beneath. That recording may still exist in some places (bandcamp.com I believe). I’ll always be proud of the creation process and result of that one, but I knew the song was still on its voyage. After many years, I’m thrilled to share this likely final rendition.

The other two songs, Start Over and Stumble, were written in the last year or so and I’m just as excited to share them. Both ideas began and were developed on the many livestreams I do on TikTok live with my loop pedal (@coldweathercompany and @jeffpetescia accounts). I’m lucky to have the supportive community on there (you all know who you are) who’ve been present since the beginning of these songs’ journeys.

Many more releases to come, both solo and CWC. Be on the lookout for more CWC singles ahead of our full album release later this year. Thank you for listening!
